Can you help us raise funds to support medical science during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond?

The Academy of Medical Sciences is playing an important and varied role responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, from providing independent scientific advice to policy makers to supporting doctors and scientists working on the front line.

We are looking for a dynamic and creative individual to join our small fundraising team as we enter a new, ambitious, phase in our fundraising and develop our activities to increase income at this pivotal time for medical science.

The Senior Fundraising Manager is a new post and the holder will be responsible for devising and delivering the charity’s major donor fundraising strategy. This is an exciting time to join the Academy’s Fundraising Team as we expand to have our first dedicated major donor fundraiser.

You will create and manage a robust pipeline of prospects to grow the charity’s fundraising base. You must have significant experience of major gift fundraising with an excellent track record of initiating new relationships, producing compelling appeal documents, securing major gifts, and managing long-term philanthropic supporter relationships. 

We are looking for a proactive and positive self-starter, willing to take responsibility for managing all donor interactions, with a demonstrated ability to direct, lead and personally work through the fundraising cycle with donors. You will have a ‘can do’ attitude, be able to spot and respond to opportunities and have great interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with colleagues, donors, and Fellows.

You will join a vibrant and growing staff team and be pivotal in enabling us to enter a new phase in fundraising, increasing income significantly.

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, you will work closely with staff across the Academy and with our Fellows to help raise funds at a time when medical research and expert policy advice is more important than ever.

Location - The Academy offices are based at 41 Portland Place, London, W1B 1QH, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic staff continue to work remotely.
