Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity is going through an exciting time where we are rebuilding!

Following a difficult year, we are pleased to be in a position to begin growing our care teams so that we can continue to deliver a high-quality family support service to more families in need. Our strategic plan is to rebuild and then continue to grow, so this is a perfect time to join us.

About us:

Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity enables families who have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness to make the most of time together, providing expert, practical and emotional support, where they need it for as long as it is needed.

About the role:

We are looking to appoint an experienced Digital Manager to lead the digital and design team, manage the Rainbow Trust website and digital platforms, oversee all social media and email marketing activity, and deliver engaging content to support fundraising and stewardship.

This is an exciting time to join the team - digital and data are at the heart of our fundraising and engagement strategy. Developing our digital capabilities and activity is core to the charity’s growth plans, so there is huge scope for you to make a real difference. You will drive the digital agenda, helping the organisation to navigate the evolving digital and fundraising landscapes.

Reporting to the Head of Engagement you will work collaboratively across the department to ensure digital platforms, processes and integrations are optimised. You will manage paid digital advertising campaigns that drive response, to generate leads and acquire new supporters. You will also understand how to tell the stories of the seriously ill children and families that we support, overseeing the production and delivery of engaging multi-channel content to inspire our audiences to support us.

Using your technical expertise to input into strategic cross-organisational projects, you will promote and champion digital adoption.

As we have recently returned to the office after lockdowns and restrictions easing, we are getting used to the new world and generally working three of five days in the office, which is flexed to business need.

What we’re looking for:

  • An experienced manager with a firm, goal-oriented approach – you have a motivational leadership style and engage the commitment of others
  • Poised and outgoing – you are naturally persuasive and enthusiastic and stimulate others into action; building rapport and developing good working relationships
  • A multi-tasker with a sense of urgency for goal achievement – you delegate effectively with thorough follow-up, and are quick to learn
  • An innovative, practical and creative problem-solver – you are a big picture thinker that responds quickly to varied activities and changing conditions.
  • Confident use of Content Management Systems, email marketing platforms, social media management and marketing tools, Google Analytics, Data Studio and Tag Manager – you have an imaginative and creative working style

What we offer:

We have a range of fantastic benefits that we offer our employees. If you’d like to find out more about these benefits and working with us, please visit our website. More information can also be found in our Candidate Pack.

How to apply:

To apply please send your CV and a covering letter to us via the link.

Your covering letter should highlight why your application should be considered above others, and clearly state how your experience matches the essential criteria outlined in the Person Specification.

Interviews will take place at our Head Office in Leatherhead w/c 6 December 2021, but we may interview earlier than this for early applications.

We will only contact those applicants who have been successful.

Early application is encouraged as we will review applications throughout the advertising period and reserve the right to close the advert early.

An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this post.

Company

Rainbow Trust is a charity that provides emotional and practical support to families in England who have a seriously ill child. The charity is based in Leatherhead in Surrey and has nine teams operating across the English regions. Founded in 1986, the Trust has 100 employees and 350 volunteers. Its annual income is £5.1m.

Rainbow Trust was created by Surrey woman Bernadette Cleary who started the charity after she helped two close friends through the terminal illnesses of their children and realised the tremendous strain such families were under. Since then around 12,500 families have been helped. The charity supports families with children aged 0-18 years and they can receive support from the moment of their child’s diagnosis.

The charity has offices in Leatherhead, Durham and Manchester and nine teams of family support workers - in Central London, County Durham, Essex, Manchester, Southampton, Surrey, Swindon and West London.

When a referral or request for help is received, a team manager visits the family to assess their needs. Assistance may include providing transport to medical appointments, practical help in the home such as cooking, sitting with the sick child to provide the parents with a break or taking out siblings. In 2014/15, the charity supported 1,958 families, 16% more than in the previous year.

2014/15 also saw the Trust launch new drop-in groups around the country for families to meet others in the same boat. New groups for parents and bereaved siblings also provided opportunities for friendship, support and respite. In 2015, the Trust’s first Neonatal Support Worker was appointed and they helped 37 families in total.

The charity also has extended its hospital in-reach service to Cumbria, Durham, Manchester and Swindon. This service provides important information, advocacy and sign-posting to families during their child’s stay in hospital, regardless of whether they are likely to require the ongoing support of the charity’s family support workers.

Rainbow Trust’s strategy is to continually review existing care and explore new geographical areas for expansion. It also plans to focus on donor acquisition and major donor income and invest in the management and leaderships skills of its staff.

Corporate partnerships are a major part of the Trust’s strategy and partners have included Deutsche Bank, Hanover Dairies, clothing retailer Evans and investment manager, Invesco Perpetual.

The Trust prioritises flexible working, family friendly policies and offers numerous internships. In 2016, Rainbow Trust was named by the Sunday Times as one of the best 100 not for profit organisations to work for.
