Job Details

A fellowship body for scientists is hiring for an Events and Programmes Officer to lead on the end-to-end planning and delivery of a portfolio of events. This is a full-time role on a fixed term contract until 31st July 2022. Flexible hybrid working options are offered between their central London office and remote working.

The events that you will manage as the Events and Programmes Officer will include both social and ceremonial events for the fellowship body such as the New Members Seminar, Admission Day, Anniversary Day and the Awards Dinners. These events are highlights in the fellowship body's annual calendar and run to high standards. In 2022, they will comprise a mix of hybrid, virtual and in-person formats. As part of this role, working evenings, weekends or a public holiday may occur on occasion.

You will contribute to the setting of plans, programme objectives and timescales and proactively identify if these need to be updated or changed. You will ensure that event plans include flexibility to accommodate virtual or hybrid alternatives should the need arise. You will also lead on the onsite or online delivery of events as required, managing the invitations and registration processes, and ensuring that all staff are fully briefed ahead of time. As well as this, you will resolve any logistical and resource issues that arise in the process of organising an event, escalating these in a timely manner if necessary.

You will have the following skills and experience:
* Proven experience of the end-to-end planning and delivery of high profile and/or complex events
* Experience of delivering online events
* Proven ability to form strong working relationships with a variety of individuals including senior leaders, internal and external stakeholders, and suppliers
* Experience of budget management including reconciliation
