Help us build leaders of the future….

We're looking for an experienced and highly skilled finance professional, to join our growing, optimistic and forward-thinking organisation as Director of Finance. In this role, you will lead the finance team and provide strategic support to the Senior Management Team and Board of Trustees.

The Students’ Union is a thriving social enterprise that provides a wide range of services and representation for the 48,000 students at UCL, one of the world’s leading universities.  We aim to give students a fantastic and transformative experience whilst studying at UCL, supporting them to navigate the challenges of university life and empowering them to be exceptional leaders in their future lives and careers.

We are currently experiencing a period of rapid growth and renewal.  We have an exciting new vision to become one of the best student organisations in the world.  This position is a key appointment for us to help consolidate the significant improvements in financial management that we have made in the past two years and take the organisation forward to the next level of performance.

Previous experience working in the Charity / non profit sector and in a commercial environment will be an advantage, but what’s equally important is flexibility, enthusiasm and a strong empathy with our vision and goals.  No two days are the same in this role, so we’re looking for someone who is adaptable, energetic, and ready to get involved in exciting new projects and initiatives.

The post will suit a qualified accountant who is skilled in managing change and who can help take our finance function to the next level. Key objectives include continuing to modernise the work of our finance team, supporting our commercial team to deliver greater profitability in our cafes, bars, gym and shops, as well as supporting planning for new service developments and business ventures.  You will also make a broader contribution to the development of the organisation as a full member of our Senior Management Team.  The post holder will also be skilled at business partnering and will be able to work effectively at all levels from frontline managers through to service directors, our student trustees and members of the University’s senior management team.

If you want a fresh challenge in a role that makes a real difference in empowering the leaders of the future, then we want to hear from you….
