As Finance Manager you will be the organisation’s most expert member of staff in financial accounting and systems. You will be confident in your ability to manage financial controls and produce accurate financial information efficiently.

The successful candidate will be a team player and good communicator, working closely with  lawyers, researchers, the events team and senior management to ensure they understand financial reports and issues and can inform our financial projections and decision-making.

PLP is a charity and a law-firm and as such operates in a complex financial and regulatory space. The ideal candidate will not necessarily be expert across both these fields but will need to be dedicated to self-development and learning with the ability to identify when you yourself need professional advice or additional support.

Perhaps your most important responsibility is your responsibility for the staff you manage. You will be dedicated to their development and support – enabling them to meet the challenges of their role and in this way share in their successes.

PLP has grown quickly and not all of our financial systems have kept pace with the changes of recent years. You will have proven your ability to improve and develop financial systems to support the resilience and connectedness of the charity.

All PLP staff have the opportunity to be involved directly in the work of the charity through membership of one of our working groups. Working groups connect staff from different departments to shape our charitable activities whether that is challenging unlawful punishment of people impacted by poverty or ensuring the use of algorithms in government decision making sure it does not unlawfully discriminate against minorities.

PLP wants to work with the best possible person for this role. To achieve that goal, we can be flexible. The post is conceived as a part-time role of between 21 and 28 hours and we will consider job-share and other flexible working arrangements.

PLP is an equal opportunities and Disability Confident Employer. We value diversity, we have a diverse team particularly among women and the LGBT+ community, and we acknowledge that we currently have an underrepresentation from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic people compared to our beneficiaries and London.  We are continuously taking actions to improve the diversity of our team. We welcome all applicants and particularly encourage applicants  from Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, and disabled people.
