These are exciting times for the charity, and we now have an excellent opportunity for a self-starting and flexible professional to join our Governance Team as Risk Manager.

Position: Risk Manager

Location: Based in Sidmouth, with flexible and home working considered

Salary: £47,500 per annum

Contract: Full time

Contract: Permanent

This increases by one day each year until a maximum of 34 days is reached.

The Role

As Risk Manager, you will establish a clearly understood risk management framework, ensuring the organisation’s risk management practice is aligned to the risk appetite strategy and is compliant with relevant legal and regulatory requirements and international norms.

You will:

 

  • Work with key stakeholders throughout the charity to establish risk as a key factor as the basis for decision-making and strategic, business and operational planning
  • Improve the identification of opportunities and threats through risk management activity
  • Advise on the level of sufficient allocation of resources for comprehensive risk mitigation, encouraging awareness of the need to manage risk throughout the organisation and improving operational effectiveness and efficiency
  • Work closely with senior executives, the board of trustees, the senior leadership team and governance team colleagues to develop a suite of policies as part of the policy framework in key areas such as whistleblowing
  • Take a lead role in the prevention and detection of fraud and corruption – monitoring and actioning progress on any investigation of any suspected frauds or irregularities.

 

About You

Educated to degree level or equivalent, the Risk Manager will possess a comprehensive working knowledge of risk management standards and practices.

You will:

Possess strong communication, leadership and influencing skills

 

  • Have expertise in developing policies and strategic documents
  • Hold a relevant professional/management qualification, together with evidence of relevant and continuous personal/professional management development activity
  • Have the ability to communicate complex information concisely – orally and in writing – to convey clear messages to a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Have excellent decision making, problem solving and analytic skills, and the ability to operate effectively under sustained pressure to deliver against a number of competing priorities and deadlines
