Job Details

TPP's Leadership and Governance team is delighted to be partnering with a maritime charity that is dedicated to meeting the health and welfare needs of seafarers of any nationality based in the United Kingdom. The charity does this through the provision of health and welfare grants to seafarers and their dependants, and partnership with the marine charities and organisations that care for them. It also supports a number of key services for seafarers.

2021 is the 200th anniversary for the charity, and while there has been much change over this time, its core values remain the same. The charity has always been responsive to the problems faced by seafarers; pioneering in its approach to treatment, medical practice and training; and inclusive and non-discriminatory in its treatment of seafarers and the provision of opportunities.

The Chair is stepping down in 2022 after eleven years in post and the charity is now looking for a committed individual who is eager to help steer the organisation through a time of exciting opportunity and development.

In addition to an interest in the charity's work and the maritime world, the successful candidate will have a strong track record as a Chair, a trustee or in a senior executive role in the not-for-profit sector. With a strategic mindset, resilience, good leadership skills, and a sound understanding of the responsibilities and duties of trusteeship, you will also serve as an advocate for the organisation and will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Board meetings are held quarterly in London and the Chair is also active between meetings, working in support of the CEO, attending key events and acting as an ambassador for the charity. It is expected that this commitment is equivalent to two days each month.

If you would like further information about this role, please get in touch with our retained Consultants at TPP Recruitment: Brigitte Stundner or Matt Adams on 0207 198 6060. To request an information pack, please email Executive@tpp.co.uk.

The closing date for applications is 9am on Friday 5th November 2021.

We want you to have every opportunity to demonstrate your skills, ability and potential; please contact us if you require any assistance or adjustment so that we can help with making the application process work for you.
