We've done quite a bit of work making sure everything is ready for your arrival.
We want to enable you to be as successful as possible in this role, so we've thought carefully what we are raising money for, who our prospects and networks are and have been sure to get our senior management on side.
We've worked with the More Partnership and Eardley Wilmot and are now very excited to share our plans.
The Academy's Fellows represent some of the most eminent medical scientists and academics of our time and the organisation is structured to be really well poised for major gift income.
Already with a strong fundraising track record, the Academy of Medical Sciences provides independent scientific advice to policy makers to supporting doctors and scientists working on the front line. It has, for example, played a pivotal role responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We are looking for a dynamic and creative individual as a co-team member as we enter a new, ambitious, phase in our fundraising and develop our activities to increase income and also, very importantly to the whole organisation, diversify our income sources.
The Senior Fundraising Manager is a new post and the holder will be responsible for devising and delivering the charity’s major donor fundraising strategy. This is an exciting time to join the Academy’s Fundraising Team as we expand to have our first dedicated major donor fundraiser.
You will create and manage a robust pipeline of prospects to grow the charity’s fundraising base. You must have significant experience of major gift fundraising with an excellent track record of initiating new relationships, producing compelling appeal documents, securing major gifts and managing long-term philanthropic supporter relationships.
We are looking for a proactive and positive self-starter, willing to take responsibility for managing all donor interactions, with a demonstrated ability to direct, lead and personally work through the fundraising cycle with donors. You will have a ‘can do’ attitude, be able to spot and respond to opportunities and have great interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with colleagues, donors and Fellows.
You will join a vibrant and growing staff team and be pivotal in enabling us to enter a new phase in fundraising, increasing income significantly.
You will work closely with staff across the Academy and with our Fellows to help raise funds at a time when medical research and expert policy advice is more important than ever.
