Our client, a leading social and regeneration charity are looking for a Volunteer Development Coordinator to join their Barnet Volunteer Service team.

Location: London Borough of Barnet (from home during Covid-19 social distancing measures)
Contract: 2 year fixed term contract, with view to extend
Salary: £26,500 to £28,500
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

They are a community charity with a green heart that has been at the forefront of social and environmental regeneration in London for over 20 years. Each year they deliver hundreds of innovative environmental and social action projects across the capital. Their projects change places and lives for the better in some of London’s most deprived and disadvantaged neighbourhoods. This includes working with communities to make their neighbourhoods greener and more resilient to climate change, supporting long-term unemployed individuals to find work, helping young people get back into education and training, and advising residents how to save money on their energy and water needs.

Each year their Volunteering team supports thousands of motivated and caring people to find the volunteering opportunity that is right for them. Their team supports prospective volunteers through every stage, from wanting to volunteer, to finding the right opportunity and helping them get started in a volunteer role. Over this 18 months, they have deployed 1000’s of volunteers to support COVID 19 volunteering efforts, including vaccine marshalling, food and medicine delivery drivers and befrienders. Their team also work with small local charities and organisations to make sure that they can find and support the volunteers they need to do the vital work that they do. As one volunteer they supported said “having the opportunity to do something I usually wouldn’t have done on my own. It was completely different to my day job and the benefits are immediately visible for the local community and I to enjoy.”

The Volunteer Development Coordinator will join an established team who collectively work to inspire and place volunteers into a wide range of volunteering roles in the London Borough of Barnet. The postholder will focus on building the capacity of community organisations to develop and embed quality volunteer management practises in their organisations and create volunteering roles that inspire prospective volunteers to apply. You will develop an annual training and networking programme for Barnet community organisations and provide tailored 121 support where required.

Furthermore, the post will support the planning and lead the coordination of the project volunteer outreach plan and work daily on their online brokerage platform, Team Kinetic. 

The postholder will join a team of five and work in close collaboration with the Project Manager and Volunteer Officers to shape, plan and deliver the project activity. The post will predominately be based in Barnet, working from varied locations and will line manager one or two officers.

Volunteering Barnet is part of the Barnet Together Partnership. Volunteering Barnet are part of the Barnet Together Partnership. Barnet Together is a collaboration between Inclusion Barnet, Volunteering Barnet and the Young Barnet Foundation. Collaboratively they provide quality training, volunteering support and provide vital resources and advice for Barnet’s community organisations

Please contact them if you have:

  • Experience working with the Barnet voluntary and community sector
  • Experience in developing and delivering training courses in volunteer management
  • Minimum of two years’ experience coordinating community or volunteering projects
  • Excellent team work skills
  • Confident in using CRM systems and working with and analysing data
  • Ability to manage a changeable work plan and priorities, whilst supporting others to do the same
