Job Details
Clerk to the Trustees of a grant making charity
Making funds work for people
Alan Higgs was a Coventry businessman who died in 1979. Having experienced deprivation in his own childhood he was particularly concerned to support and encourage underprivileged young people in Coventry and the surrounding area. He believed that a good start in life through access to opportunities is of more value than inherited wealth. For over forty years the Alan Edward Higgs Charity has contributed to many projects and services within a geographic area of 25 miles from the centre of Coventry.
The Trustees make grants for a wide range of activities carried out by small and large organisations. The Trustees have been keen to match the fundraising efforts of local groups and have avoided allowing any group or organisation to come to depend on their grants. The Trustees make no grants to individuals but make grants to charities that have specialist concerns and expertise. Fuller information is on the website at https://www.higgscharity.org.uk/
