Salary: £30,000 to £32,000 (dependent upon experience)

Contract: Permanent: full-time, 40 hours per week

Closing Date: 9am, Monday 4 October 2021

First Stage Interviews: Friday 8 October 2021 (via Teams/Zoom)

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing, ambitious national charity  who believe all young people should have the opportunity to discover their passion and their purpose; to find out what they’ve got and where it could take them.   The charity  funds and builds state-of-the-art, multimillion pound spaces for young people (called Youth Zones) and drives a  growing national network of Youth Zones providing life-changing support to tens of thousands of young people nationwide.  If you feel you have the necessary skills, apply today!

The charity welcomes applications from under-represented groups; in particular, from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic individuals, people with disabilities, and members of LGBTQ+ community.  Their dedicated Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Group, with support from the Senior Leadership Team, is actively promoting and advancing diversity and inclusion, ensuring a culture where everyone can be themselves and thrive.

About the role:

The role of Communications and Brand Manager is key within the charity’s communications department. You will create understanding and awareness between the charity’s brand and the key audiences that matter to them as a growing national charity, with ambitious plans for growth.

There are three parts to the role, firstly, supporting the establishment and amplification of their newly refreshed brand, working closely with the Head of Communications and Brand to support the ongoing embedding of the brand, the development of cohesive corporate branded materials and developing and implementing new ways to tell the brand story so that it reaches new audiences and engage advocates and partners.

Alongside this, the role will manage a small portfolio of local and regionally focussed end-to-end integrated communications and PR programmes, working closely with a local team of relationship managers and fundraisers to help establish new Youth Zones as independent charities within their vibrant Network to key local audiences.

Lastly, you will work alongside the wider Marketing and Communications team to support local communications functions, providing support, guidance and a listening ear to Youth Zone communications colleagues as required.

About you:

As Communications and Brand Manager you will be dynamic and self-motivated, with a passion for the charity’s youth focussed mission.

You will need to bring with you the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable all-round integrated communications experience, including PR, digital and brand
  • Experience of copy writing, researching, editing, proofing & creating print and digital communications content
  • Experience of implementing and amplifying brand and ‘tone of voice’ guidelines
  • Experience using digital platforms & tools such as MailChimp, Hootsuite, WordPress & Google Analytics
  • Experience building relationships with journalists & working with the media
  • Experience advising internal and external teams and stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent written communications skills, with proven experience applying the appropriate tone of voice
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and manage a wide range of internal and external relationships confidently

To apply, please submit a CV and cover letter (of not more than one page), explaining clearly why you are interested in the role and how you feel you are suited to it.

The charity recognises that the workforce is under-represented in certain areas and are committed to addressing this.  Therefore, the charity actively encourages applicants to submit anonymous applications; in practice this means removing your name and email address from your CV and cover letter.  The HR Lead will have these details from your submission, but they will not be available to the selection panel when they are considering your application.

We are committed to the safeguarding of young people. In accordance with our Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures, this position requires a basic DBS check.

Other roles you may have experience of could include: Brand Manager, Head of Brand, Brand Strategy, Brand and Communications Manager, Senior Brand Project Manager, Head of Marketing, Head of Marketing and Communications, Head of Brand Marketing, Senior Brand Manager, Marketing, Marketing and Communications, Marketing and Communications Fundraising, Marketing Manager, Communications Manager, Marketing and Communications Manager, Marketing and Engagement Manager, etc.
