About Us
The Microbiology Society is a membership charity for scientists interested in microbes, their effects and their practical uses. It is one of the largest microbiology societies in Europe with a worldwide membership based in universities, industry, hospitals, research institutes and schools.
Our principal goal is to develop, expand and strengthen the networks available to our members so that they can generate new knowledge about microbes and ensure that it is shared with other communities. The impacts from this will drive us towards a world in which the science of microbiology provides maximum benefit to society.
We are currently looking for a Promotions and Marketing Officer to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Role
As a Promotions and Marketing Officer, you will support the effective delivery of our promotional, marketing and sales activities.
Reporting to the Promotions and Marketing Manager, you will co-ordinate the marketing for our successful events programme, which includes our Annual Conference, across external events and platforms. Working with the Digital Engagement and Communications Team, you will support the delivery of targeted and measurable marketing activities using a variety of channels including email, social media and print.
Developing strong relationships with exhibitors and prospects at events, you will help convert leads into sales, maximising income streams for our organisation.
About You
To join us as a Promotions and Marketing Officer, you will need:
- Demonstrable expertise in delivering compelling, measurable marketing campaigns
- Demonstrable sales experience
- The ability to deal confidently with internal and external contacts
- The ability to set priorities for your own work
- To be self-motivated with good time-management and communication skills
- To be strongly motivated to achieve results
- To be educated to degree level or equivalent
A CIM or IDM qualification would be beneficial to your application. Knowledge of, or an interest in, microbiology would be advantageous, as would knowledge of membership organisations.
