Citizens Advice Milton Keynes is a local charity that helps people to resolve their legal, money and personal problems. We have been providing free, confidential, and impartial advice since 1972 and helped over 8000 local people last year.

Following the incorporation of the Works for Us charity into Citizens Advice Milton Keynes, we’re looking for an experienced Team Manager to oversee delivery of our new employability, training, and advice service.

The Works for Us project provides free training, careers guidance and support for local people in and around Milton Keynes. Getting back into paid work or progressing your career can be difficult, and our team is there to help and guide people to get to where they want to be.

A well organized and adaptable manager, you will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of a reliable, high quality, multi-channel service. You’ll be adept at managing fast changing priorities and drive improvements and performance where required.

You will manage a small team of skilled and dedicated caseworkers, guidance officers and tutors all working to help people overcome their personal challenges and provide them with tailored careers training and practical advice to boost their confidence and give learn new skills.

You will also have experience of monitoring and evaluating training activities and practices to ensure we continue to meet the needs of local people, including the most vulnerable in society.

This is a challenging role within a service that is in high demand – especially considering Covid-19 and the social and economic impact of the pandemic. All our staff work to strict quality standards and ensure that all work is compliant with our contract funders.

Applicants need to be –

  • Computer-literate, although training on our case recording systems will be given.
  • Confident and have some experience of using telephone and video call systems. 
  • Confident in working to performance targets.
  • Able to show good communications skills, both written and verbal. These are essential in the role, as are excellent customer service skills with a non-judgemental approach.
  • Prepared to work independently and from home or a remote location if required. 

Experience in an advice agency or similar setting is desirable. 

The successful Applicant/s will be asked to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
