PREAMBLE 

The Naval Families Federation exists to speak up for and champion Naval Service families.  We represent their views and experiences to those who make the policies and decisions that affect them. We meet regularly with the Royal Navy’s Chain of Command, Government Ministers, Other Government Departments, and other key stakeholders.  We offer direct support to families with individual policy issues and advocate on their behalf.  We also support appropriate and relevant research.   

PURPOSES 

Primary Purposes:    

To lead and manage the Naval Families Federation (NFF) in order to deliver the NFF’s strategy and fulfil its mission of speaking up for Naval Service families. 

To represent the views and experiences of Naval Service families to central Government, Other Government Departments, the Devolved Administrations, the AFPRB and the Royal Navy’s Chain of Command in order to inform policy and decision making. 

Secondary Purposes

To manage the NFF charity in accordance with Charity Commission regulations. 

Be the accounting officer for the NFF, an MOD Arm’s Length Body (ALB) in receipt of Grant-in-Aid funding. 

To lead and implement the NFF’s strategy and future development plans. 

To direct the NFF’s employees to deliver effectively the NFF’s mission, and to provide appropriate information, advocacy and signposting to Naval Service families, including supporting individual policy related casework. 

To oversee the proper and effective use of the NFF’s resources and premises. 

Manage the NFF finances. 

To direct and oversee the production of high quality and effective communications in support of the NFF’s mission, to include Homeport Magazine, the NFF website and social media outlets. 

To identify and pursue appropriate avenues of research. 

To co-ordinate and work with the other RN charities. 

To co-ordinate and work with the other Families Federations. 

Identify opportunities for projects that will support delivery of the NFF’s strategy. 

Act as adviser to the trustees. 

Develop an effective working relationship with the Chair of Trustees. 

Represent the three Families Federations at key meetings in rotation as required. 

Attract, retain, and manage an effective team of staff.
