The Pituitary Foundation is the leading charity in the UK and Republic of Ireland supporting people affected by pituitary conditions, estimated at over 50,000 people. Our vision is that every person with a pituitary condition has a timely diagnosis and access to high quality treatment, information, and support. From the moment someone is diagnosed with a pituitary condition through treatment and beyond, we’re here providing support, information, and a community. We empower people to manage their health condition and we work towards greater awareness and understanding of pituitary disease amongst health care professionals and the public.

Our support services for patients, their families, friends, and carers currently include a network of local support groups; helplines; publications and information service; and patient and family services events, including conferences. We also offer a membership scheme with over 2,300 members and engage in policy and research work, campaigning, and educational activities. The charity has an income of c. £500,000 and employs 10 staff plus manages several outsourced contracted services. We also have a large team of 140 volunteers across the UK and the Republic of Ireland and our volunteers are at the heart of what we do and who we are.

Our longstanding Chief Executive will be stepping down in the Autumn and we are now seeking an exceptional individual to lead the charity through its next chapter. You will be joining an organisation in good health with an effective, stable, high performing team. As we emerge from the pandemic and plan for a new phase of growth, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing visible, inspiring leadership to our staff, volunteers, and supporters.
  • Championing our cause and building strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the individuals we support, our donors, celebrity ambassadors, partners, and healthcare providers.
  • Steering the team and organisation during a critical period of significant change into the charity’s next phase of development and growth.
  • Working with the Board to evaluate the progress of our current strategy (2019 – 2022) and prepare for the development of our next strategy.
  • Ensuring our governance, compliance and administration are robust and that we fulfil our legal, statutory, and regulatory responsibilities.
  • Leading digital advancement of the organisation by commencing implementation of the digital transformation plan, which is currently in the planning stages.
  • Continuing to develop the charity’s equality, diversity and inclusion work including producing and implementing an Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Action Plan.
  • Supporting and leading the staff team to deliver their key areas of work and projects, including overseeing a head office move in 2022.

We are looking for you to bring experience of working at a senior level within the charity sector, with a good understanding of charity management and governance.  A visible and persuasive advocate, your passion, energy, and tenacity will raise the profile of our work, encourage supporters, and enable us to help more people affected by a pituitary condition. You will also have the versatility to manage a wide range of activity together with the inclusive and collegiate leadership skills to harness the full potential of our staff, volunteers, and Trustees.

We are based in Bristol and in 2022 we will move offices to a more suitable building within the city. As Chief Executive, we would anticipate you travelling to the office approximately 2 days per week with the option to work remotely for the remaining days.
