The Microbiology Society is a membership charity for scientists interested in microbes, their effects and their practical uses. It is one of the largest microbiology societies in Europe with a worldwide membership based in universities, industry, hospitals, research institutes and schools.

Our principal goal is to develop, expand and strengthen the networks available to our members so that they can generate new knowledge about microbes and ensure that it is shared with other communities. The impacts from this will drive us towards a world in which the science of microbiology provides maximum benefit to society.

About You

We are looking for a Conference and Events Officer to join our friendly and welcoming team based in Central London (currently working remotely). The postholder will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the Society’s full programme of events.

This role requires the postholder to have experience in organising large scale events as well as the ability to build effective relationships with key individuals and stakeholders at all levels, including volunteer scientists on committees.

The successful candidate will contribute to, and support, the Head of Conferences and Events in the delivery of all of the Council’s strategic objectives and particularly in relation to enabling our members to strengthen their existing relationships and gain access to new communities, maximising national and international networking opportunities.

Please note, this role will include occasional travel.
