Policy and Engagement Officer
The Microbiology Society is a membership charity for scientists interested in microbes, their effects and their practical uses. It is one of the largest microbiology societies in Europe with a worldwide membership based in universities, industry, hospitals, research institutes and schools.
Our principal goal is to develop, expand and strengthen the networks available to our members so that they can generate new knowledge about microbes and ensure that it is shared with other communities. The impacts from this will drive us towards a world in which the science of microbiology provides maximum benefit to society.
We are looking for a Policy and Engagement Officer to join our friendly and welcoming team based in central London (currently working remotely). The postholder will be responsible for promoting science policy issues and engagement to members of the Society.
This role requires the postholder to have experience in science policy area as well as the ability to analyse, interpret and summarise complex information. Working with the Head of Policy and Engagement, the postholder will support and contribute to the delivery of all of the Council’s strategic objectives and particularly in relation to advancing the understanding of microbiology and championing the contribution made by microbiology, our members and their work in addressing global challenges.
