Job Details

Engage Britain is an independent charity that brings people together to tackle our country’s biggest challenges.

Right now, none of us get enough of a say on the important decisions that affect our everyday lives – like health and care, poverty or education.

This is a senior role with an exciting two year old charity with big ambitions and well connected and visionary individuals involved.

A flexible role, you can be based anywhere in the UK.

It’s also a great opportunity to work with philanthropists Guy and Julia Hands, and their networks, and to build on the existing fundraising knowledge to develop a sustainable fundraising stream for the charity.

You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to strategy and build up something from ‘before’ to ‘after’ in an area which has never been done before. The charity has excellent networks and plans are ripe for you get involved.

You’ll be able to apply your considerable experience and creative and innovative thinking to high value fundraising and to how an evolving charity is funded. The charity has already secured an initial contribution from the Hands Family Trust, the philanthropic trust established by Julia and Guy Hands, which allows it to plan over a five-to-ten-year period.

Engage is looking to expand the range of funding partners, both philanthropically and through other sources of funding income, to reflect the mission of the charity and the population it serves, as it works on challenges that matter to everyone.

Vision

Within three years, Engage Britain will:

●  Have proved the power of a new approach to policy making, with people engaging with each other to develop ways forward.

●  Have developed credible and inclusive ways forward, and have worked with others – whether charities, practitioners or the public – to bring them about.

●  Be at the centre of a network drawn from every level of society – people who share an interest in making Britain a better place for us all to live.

Work

Engage's work is structured around dynamic dialogues, each of which concentrates on a major challenge facing the country, as identified by the public themselves. Dialogues are tasked with finding ways forward which are both analytically robust – in that they will make a difference to the challenge – and politically sustainable – in that they draw on values that reach across divides. Each dialogue involves a follow-on phase, which aims to support those involved in developing the ways forward to get them into the national policy debate and ultimately see them adopted.

We’d love to chat to you if you have significant experience in major gifts, trust and corporate fundraising, developing strategy and would love to join our team.

Engage Britain is committed to creating a culture where people from different backgrounds can come together to share their views and voice. We see difference - both in our work and in our employees - as a strength, so we actively encourage applicants from all ethnicities, political backgrounds and locations across the UK, those with or without a university education as well as people who identify as LGBTQ+ or people who may have disabilities to apply for roles.
