This is a hugely important time for policing in England and Wales. While officer numbers are rising through the biggest recruitment drive in a generation, important questions are being asked about the mission of the police. Police services face challenges, not least in reflecting the diversity of the society in which we live, and ensuring the highest standards of professionalism and leadership.
The College of Policing, as the professional body of the service, has a critical role to play in improving standards, equipping officers and staff with the skills they need, developing leadership and sharing best practice. The College is now undergoing a fundamental review of its role, effectiveness and place in the policing landscape, with a new Chief Executive appointed to drive reform and a renewed strategic mission.
To help deliver this agenda we are seeking four high calibre individuals from a range of backgrounds who will help shape a compelling vision and direction for the College, providing challenge and support to the executive team. These include applicants with expertise in commercial, digital, finance, learning and development, legal, and regulatory standards.
We believe we should be an exemplar to the service, which is seeking to improve diversity in all its forms, and would like to reflect this in the new Non-Executive Director appointments.
