Bristol Zoological Society is embarking on a significant period of transformation including the redevelopment of the much-loved Bristol Zoo Gardens and the development of a new Bristol Zoo at the 136 acre Wild Place Project site.

Never has such a significant transformation taken place in the Society’s 185-year history and this represents an extraordinary opportunity for the Society to not only establish a world-class zoo for Bristol but also to ensure that through the transformation programme that the organisation as a whole is fit-for-purpose and best placed to achieve its charitable mission and vision for the long-term.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, this new role is critical to ensuring that the Zoo’s strategic plans are communicated sensitively and effectively, internally and externally, during this period of change. This will include leadership and oversight of high-profile communications regarding the development of the new Bristol Zoo and redevelopment of Bristol Zoo Gardens, with an additional focus on the development of a brand strategy for the new Bristol Zoo. This role will have a significant PR/communications element which will require an understanding of the effective management and engagement of a broad range of stakeholders.

Candidates will be marketing/communications/PR professionals who have managed external affairs, either at a Director or Assistant Director level.  Experience of the tourist/visitor attraction/leisure/hospitality or charity sectors would be a distinct advantage.  You must be proactive, able to work with highly motivated multi-disciplinary teams.  In addition, you must want to be a member of an Executive Team creating a landmark tourist attraction which will attract visitors for many generations to come.

If this opportunity is of interest, please forward your CV quoting Ref. No. 3647/INT to Tony Hodgins.
