Job Details

Engineering can solve the world’s greatest challenges - you can make it happen.

We are looking for a multi-talented individual to join our International Partnerships team as a Programme Officer, facilitating our connections with the global engineering community.

The Royal Academy of Engineering is harnessing the power of engineering to build a sustainable society and an inclusive economy that works for everyone. In collaboration with our Fellows and partners, we are growing talent and developing skills for the future, driving innovation, building global partnerships, influencing policy and engaging the public.

We are a UK-based organisation with a global perspective, and together with our partners we work to tackle the greatest challenges facing the world today. Through our international partnership activities, we contribute to stronger global engineering leadership, we connect researchers and innovators working on solutions to global challenges, and we support UK strategic advantage in science and engineering.

As a great place to work, we support flexible working and would be happy to discuss working patterns with candidates. We welcome the different perspectives and views that individuals from different backgrounds bring. In addition, we offer a competitive benefits package with the individual at the centre of what we offer.

You will be joining a small, friendly and supportive team that engages in a variety of activities delivered via our partnerships with engineering academies around the world, including in Europe, North America and increasingly, East Asia. Through these channels we project UK-based engineering knowledge and expertise for global benefit, while also injecting international perspectives into the Academy’s UK-focused policy work. We are therefore looking for someone who is an effective communicator, a strong team worker, and is motivated to work independently on a diverse range of projects.

You will help manage the Academy's portfolio of international bilateral and multilateral partnerships and activities with a particular focus on partnership in Asia, under the guidance of the Manager, International Partnerships and other colleagues. You will build and maintain relationships with Academies, Embassies and research and innovation stakeholders. Therefore, you must have direct experience of partnership building or collaborative programmes.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!

As an organisation we are small enough that you will be known, seen and understood, and big enough to offer great benefits which you would usually associate with much larger organisations.

We offer an unrivalled package of benefits including a non-contributory pension scheme, BUPA cash plan, private medical insurance, subsidised restaurant, regular social activities, health and wellbeing programmes and the possibility of flexible working, as well as significant investment into your personal and professional development. We have an inclusive and flexible approach to hybrid working based on trust and respecting individual difference, with a fantastic central London office near St James’ Park when you need it.

During Covid-19 all staff have been working remotely, this will continue until September, when we will move to flexible working with two days a week in the office.
