The Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) team supports these strategic priorities by building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with its alumni, other influential individuals, companies and charitable trusts and foundations. Working towards an ambitious three-year plan that aims to significantly grow alumni volunteering and its beneficial impact on student success and grow fundraising income ten-fold, the Engagement and Events Officer will play an important role in devising and running events for the DAR team. 

The role 

We are seeking an Engagement and Events Officer, who will support and help to lead on the development, planning and delivery of online, hybrid (online/physical venue) and face-to-face events, on a regional, national and international level, that deepen the University's engagement with alumni, philanthropists, senior donors and key volunteers. 

The post holder will develop and implement an outstanding and integrated alumni,  supporter and volunteer events engagement strategy and an annual operational plan informed by KPIs and in consultation with alumni relations and fundraising colleagues. 

The ideal candidate 

You will have significant proven experience of event project management and of having a creative and aspirational approach to developing and progressing new schemes and initiatives for high value audiences and with successful business outcomes.  

You must have excellent written, proofreading, listening and verbal skills and a proven ability and willingness to network, build and maintain working relationships with a variety of individuals of all levels, both inside and outside the organisation.  

You must demonstrate experience of providing excellent customer service in your work and of being a highly organised individual with the ability to prioritise, reach decisions quickly and work effectively in a busy environment as part of a team.
