Use your analytical skills to help the government make the right choices

About us

Arm’s Length Bodies (ALBs) are vital to the smooth running of everyday life. But more than this; from advisory like the Boundary Commission for Scotland to museums like the V&A, leisure such as Sport England to education through Ofsted – these organisations are crucial to our efforts in levelling up the country and boosting our recovery from the pandemic.

If you have a passion for government and good governance, this could be a career-defining challenge. We have three roles based in our new second HQ in Glasgow. When you consider these organisations together lead over 300,000 people, this is work with an impact on every facet of society.

About the role

All of the roles will see you use analysis and evidence to help develop high profile policies. Ministers and senior stakeholders will then use this work to make key decisions on our relationships with ALBs.

As someone immersed in the topic, you may also get involved with developing proposals and creating a picture of ‘what good looks like’ to drive performance. It is fast paced, interesting and ever-changing work, with lots of potential for career advancement.

About you

It is essential that you have the ability to assess and translate complex data into clear and simple advice – in person and on paper. You will also have the confidence to build strong relationships with senior figures, and the kind of team ethic that helps you quickly raise your profile across the department.

Benefits

We offer a range of benefits including the Civil Service Pension, and the Glasgow office is a stunning new space in which to make the most of our structured professional development and grow your expertise. However, the real attraction here is providing the leaders of important organisations with the knowledge and skills to be successful.

Apply before 11:55 pm on Sunday 8th August 2021.

Company

The Office of the Third Sector (OTS) was created to help develop an environment that enables the whole of the third sector to thrive and fulfil its potential contribution to society, economy and the environment.
