Role Description:

At community charity, Groundwork South, we are changing places, changing lives across the South of England, one green step at a time.

Are you a creative and effective Manager, equally adept at business development as you are at overseeing the successful delivery of a range of innovative, inclusive and exciting community programmes? Do you share a passion for high quality public open spaces, the environment and making a genuine difference to people’s lives? If so, we’d love you to join the team at Groundwork South and help us shape and support the regeneration of Hastings and its surrounding areas.

Realising the potential of two significant countryside parks will be one of your primary focuses in this role, but your partnership development skills and support from the wider fundraising and development team at Groundwork will see you identifying opportunities to replicate successful Groundwork services in the area and innovating with partners to find new solutions that help tackle any environmental, social or economic challenges that stand in our way.

The Area Programme Manager (APM), reporting to the Operational Delivery Manager, will take the lead in ensuring the highest quality of project delivery and partnership relationship management across Hastings and surrounding areas. The APM will support the preparation and delivery of the Groundwork South Business Plan, working with Directors and Managers to ensure that its overall strategy, budgets, objectives, operational plans and outcomes are realised.

The APM is a generalist programme management role and in Hastings will lead on the co-ordination and management of a range of thematic areas, including but not limited to -

  • Green space and country park management projects
  • Employment and integration programmes

The role will involve the development, planning, delivery, monitoring and financial management of projects.  The APM will provide support and leadership to delivery staff to ensure that the projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.

A key part of this role moving forward will be working with participants from the Connecting Hastings and Rother Together (CHART) funded Greener Futures project (working 18.75 hours per week, equivalent to 50% of your time on the Greener Futures Programme.)

Join us and help shape the future of one of the UK’s leading environmental regeneration charities.

In return we offer:

  • 25 days per annum plus English Bank Holidays
  • A contributory pension scheme
  • Scope to continuing development of your professional skills

Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for which you will need to be insured for business use. Employees are able to claim back mileage rates as per our Expenses Policy.

Closing Date: 12 noon 6th August
Interview Date: 11th August 2021
