Senior Manager – Policy & Business Development

Central London & Remote Working

Fixed Term Contract – 18 months

The Careers & Enterprise Company was established in 2015 to help link schools and colleges to employers, in order to increase employer engagement for young people. Our mission is to prepare and inspire young people for the fast-changing world of work.

This is an exciting time at The Careers & Enterprise Company. During our first three years, we have worked with Local Enterprise Partnerships to build a national network which now links 2,000 schools and colleges to employers. We have also funded 150 programmes to provide high-quality employer engagement activities to young people where they are needed most.

Role Summary

The Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC) is looking for a Policy & Business Development Senior Manager to support our mission to help every young person find their best next step. You will be at the heart of CEC’s work and our relationships with Government and external partners to drive thinking about how best to support schools and colleges to deliver world class careers support to their students.

This is an exciting and important time for CEC:

  • We need to play an influential and authoritative role in the country’s response to the needs of young people during the Covid19 recovery period.
  • We must offer direction alongside resources to schools, colleges, and employers about how best they can support young people to transition from education into work.
  • We must drive thought leadership and debate about the future of careers education in the context of political and economic circumstances and as part of a new strategy era for careers education.
  • We must ultimately demonstrate our value to young people and their preparedness for work.

The role sits within a small and busy Strategy and Communications team comprising External Affairs, communications and marketing and policy. It will involve close and regular engagement with CEC’s CEO and Senior Leadership Team, as well as our Education Development, Network, Business Partnerships and Operations teams to develop collaborative, joined-up and evidence-led approaches to our policy and stakeholder engagement strategic thinking.

To be considered for this role, you will be able to demonstrate: proven ability to deliver strong policy outcomes – within the sectors of education, skills and careers; experience of developing external relationships across a range of partners; and evidence of strong management and team leadership skills including ability to work effectively, collaboratively across teams.

Our organisation has a privileged opportunity to make a difference to the lives of millions of young people, helping to inspire and prepare them for the fast-changing world of work, and we want you to help us make it happen.

Applicants are asked to submit a supporting statement (on no more than 2 x A4 pages) outlining how you fulfil the qualifications, experience, skills and core competencies criteria provided in the Job Description and an up-to-date CV.

To apply, please click the Apply button to send us your CV responding to two questions below. Applications with no supporting cover letter will not be considered.

  • Why CEC and the role are of interest?
