So, if you want to develop your career and join a collaborative work environment where we all work together for the welfare of pets, we want to hear from you.

The Role

As a Fundraising and Marketing Data Compliance Officer, you will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for data compliance across our organisation.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising, Marketing & Communications (FMC), you will provide expertise, advice, guidance and support to colleagues regarding data compliance.

You will ensure we remain compliant with all aspects of the UK GDPR and Data Protection, the DMA and the Fundraising Regulator's Code of Fundraising Practice. You will ensure we can continue to generate income and collect and undertake analysis of essential data.

In addition, you will act as the FMC Senior User lead on the Value Data initiative and will oversee a team undertaking a variety of activities to improve our data maturity level. You will help develop and lead the initiative as it progresses from its current early planning stages and take on more detailed accountabilities.

About You

To join us as a Fundraising and Marketing Data Compliance Officer, you will need:

- In-depth knowledge of GDPR and significant experience of applying GDPR principles in the workplace and practical implementation and monitoring of compliance
- In-depth knowledge of the Fundraising Regulator's Code of Fundraising Practice
- To be familiar with the charity sector and the nature of its data processing activities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to explain complex issues clearly and calmly to non-experts
- The ability to work with diverse personalities and different perspectives
- High data literacy with strong awareness of the data lifecycle
- Experience of contributing effectively to complex projects
- To possess strong attention to detail
- An advanced understanding of risk management

Practical experience of fundraising and direct marketing would be beneficial to your application, as would experience of working in a not-for-profit environment. Experience in training and upskilling individuals and teams would be equally desirable.

This is a part-time role working 28 hours per week on a 12 month fixed-term contract.
