Job Details

Are you passionate about helping others? Do you want to make a difference, and support pharmacists when they need it most? If so, you could be a Trustee for Pharmacist Support!

Pharmacist Support is the pharmacy profession’s independent charity.  Our beneficiaries making up our ‘pharmacy family’ include pharmacists and their families, former pharmacists, pharmacy students, and trainee pharmacists, for whom we provide a range of services to help and support them in times of need.

In recent years we have significantly increased our reach and raised the charity’s profile, alongside developing our offering to better suit the needs of pharmacists in the 21st century. We are now looking to add enthusiastic new Trustees to our board who can further support us in our growth, and development. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone wanting to support our ‘pharmacy family’ alongside developing their personal and/or professional skills in a team of experienced and dedicated Trustees, volunteers and staff.

Our aim is to create a Board of Trustees that is representative and supportive of our ‘pharmacy family’ and we would welcome interest from individuals of all ages (both pharmacists and non-pharmacists), backgrounds, cultures, and levels of experience. If you have passion for the people we serve, and the experience you feel could benefit our dynamic and innovative charity, we would like to hear from you. Your ‘lived’ experience is more important than previous Board or Trustee experience as full training will be given.

Pharmacist Support is committed to promoting equality, valuing diversity, and creating an inclusive environment.  This applies to our beneficiaries as well as our staff, volunteers, and Trustees.

The time commitment equates to around a day per month made up through quarterly board meetings and time to input on charity matters, however for Officers and committee members this may be higher. The Board aims to offer flexibility and tries to accommodate personal availability wherever possible.

Interested?

To apply for this role, all we need is a copy of your CV along with a covering letter (maximum of 2 pages), telling us more about you and why you are interested in getting involved, as well as where you heard about the role.  We would be grateful if you could also complete the diversity monitoring form in order to ensure that our equal opportunities policy is adhered to.

The closing date for applications is Monday 2nd August 2021 at 12 noon.

Interviews will be held in Manchester on Wednesday 29th September and Friday 1st October 2021

Company

Pharmacist Support is an independent, trusted charity, providing a wide variety of support services to pharmacists and their families, former pharmacists and pharmacy students.

We’ve listened carefully to people from all sectors of the profession, and deeply empathise with the issues affecting pharmacy today. In our 2019 market research 97% of all potential service users surveyed felt they needed some form of support from the charity with 71% of all respondents citing mental health as a key issue affecting the sector.

We believe in better! We listen, without judgement, and encourage and empower people to create positive change. Each year we provide thousands of acts of support – we make good things happen.

Our connection to the profession is deep. Established by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) in 1841, the organisation has grown from its Benevolent Fund roots into a modern day charity.

We’re proud to be able to support people from such a caring profession, and we’ll never give up on what we like to call our pharmacy ‘family’.

Our Vision

No one in our pharmacy family will face challenging times without us by their side

Our Mission

To champion the wellbeing of our pharmacy family

  • Fairness – We are non-judgemental. We are independent. We work with integrity.
