Volunteer Coordinator

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Volunteer Coordinator to drive forward an ambitious volunteering and development strategy for a homeless charity in Waltham Forest.

You will be working for a charity providing short-term accommodation, support, advocacy and counselling for former rough sleepers and single homeless people.

Position: Volunteer Coordinator

Location: Waltham Forest

Salary: £30,000 per annum

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week (The role will require occasional weekend and evening work to administer volunteer events)

About the role:

Volunteers are a key part of the charity’s success, they bring much-needed talent, skills and life experiences. As Volunteer Coordinator you will be the key central support for volunteer recruitment and encouraging clients’ engagement in the wider volunteering experience. This is a varied and hugely rewarding role, working with volunteers and the client group to ensure positive changes for people living in the Hostel.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Vet, recruit, assess and train volunteers in line with recruitment processes
  • Provide support, supervision and training to volunteers within agreed standards
  • Publicise services to potential volunteers and build new partnerships in the borough and neighbouring boroughs
  • Work with the client group, Support and Resettlement team and voluntary sector organisations to develop the volunteer programme
  • Manage the CRM system, ensuring data is kept up to date
  • Deliver the volunteer programme to meet KPIs
  • Build and manage strategic relationships with key community stakeholders

About you:

We are looking for a strong communicator who is passionate about the importance of volunteering. As Volunteer Co-ordinator you will have an entrepreneurial spirit to effectively deliver the volunteer programme. To be successful you will be proactive, solution-focused and will bring experience of networking, developing relationships, and supporting volunteers.

You will have the following skills and experience:

  • Track record of managing volunteers effectively, with the ability to motivate and support volunteers to provide consistent support to vulnerable adults
  • Experience of developing networks and relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders
  • Experience of delivering small to medium-scale programmes from start to finish
  • Skilled at delivering engaging training sessions and organising events
  • Flexible, with the ability to provide solutions to working with people who may be reluctant to engage with services
  • Solid IT ability

Although not essential, knowledge of the communities in Waltham Forest and East London would be highly beneficial, as would an understanding of the challenges facing homeless people.

Above all else, if you are passionate about engaging volunteer commitment and will be proactive in securing volunteering opportunities then we want to hear from you!

The charity welcomes applications from all sections of society including people with lived experience of homelessness, or other forms of social exclusion.

Other roles you may have experience of could include: Volunteer Manager, Volunteer Management, Volunteer Coordinator, Volunteering, Volunteer, and Programme Coordinator.
