Resettlement Worker

We are looking for a Resettlement Worker to provide a knowledgeable, practicable and personalised resettlement service for individuals moving on from a Hostel.

You will be working for a charity providing short-term accommodation, support, advocacy and counselling for former rough sleepers and single homeless people.

Position: Resettlement Worker

Location: Waltham Forest

Salary: £26,000 per annum

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week 

About the role:

You will be providing comprehensive resettlement services for individuals and former residents of the Hostel, and some of your key accountabilities will include:

 

  • Individuals acquire relevant life-skills that support successful independent living.
  • Individuals are resettled into move-on accommodation that is appropriate to their needs.
  • Additional support networks are in place relevant to individuals’ circumstances when they move-on.
  • Delivery of a floating support service for a minimum period of six months.
  • Developing effective partnerships across all housing sectors and suitable move-on accommodation is secured.
  • Timely and effective liaison with Support Workers, in-house CBT Practitioner and external agencies.

 

About you:

To be successful in the role of Resettlement Worker, it is essential that you have excellent communication skills, can interact with the client group, and have enhanced levels of skill and experience to provide effective resettlement support.

You also will have the following skills and experience:

 

  • A good understanding of the complex support needs of former rough sleepers and homeless people
  • Understanding of risk assessment, planned support and SMART goal setting
  • Understanding of a person-centred outcomes-based delivery service
  • Knowledge of housing regulation and welfare benefits, relevant to the Hostel’s client group
  • Experience of working with a vulnerable client group with complex needs, which may have included drug/alcohol dependency, mental health, ex -offenders, or learning disability.
  • Proven experience of achieving measurable outcomes - establishing and maintaining relationships with housing providers including private landlords, statutory agencies, RSLs and voluntary agencies to secure accommodation for former rough sleepers or homeless people.

 

Although not essential, you may also bring with you knowledge of the housing charity and voluntary sectors.

The charity welcomes applications from all sections of society including people with lived experience of homelessness, or other forms of social exclusion.
