The Wolfson Foundation is a charity that awards grants to support excellence in the fields of  science, health, heritage, humanities and the arts, with education and research underpinning  everything that we do. We are one of the country’s largest funding charities, and since 1955,  some £1 billion has been awarded to more than 14,000 projects throughout the UK.

The Wolfson History Prize – the most valuable non-fiction writing prize in the UK – has been  awarded and administered by the Foundation since 1972. In 2022 the Wolfson History Prize  will celebrate its 50th anniversary and we will be running a discrete but complementary  anniversary campaign alongside the 2022 prize.

We are recruiting for an important and exciting role to support this area of our work: Wolfson  History Prize Officer.

This is a new 12 month fixed term role, providing dedicated support for the prize during this  period. The role will support on all areas of work related to the planning and delivery of (1) the  50th anniversary campaign; and (2) the 2022 prize. It will play a key role in ensuring that the  prize continues to play an integral role in the overall strategy of the Foundation, extending  our funding for heritage, humanities & the arts, and acts as an independent voice  championing the importance of history and history writing to society.

The successful candidate will have outstanding organisational and administrative skills,  including a high level of attention to detail, demonstrable planning and project management  skills with the ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines, and a high level of spoken  and written English. The individual needs to be able to work effectively as part of a small team  while also being capable of undertaking independent work. Excellent relationship  management skills are essential.

The role requires an individual who believes passionately in the Wolfson History Prize’s  mission and has an enthusiasm for the wider range of activities undertaken by the Foundation.

The successful candidate will start in early September (or as soon as possible thereafter). The  Foundation is able to offer £27,500-32,500 per annum as part of a competitive remuneration  package, including a pension contribution.

Further information about the role can be found in the job description.
