The job location is flexible as you could be located at home or in any of our 4 gardens (except RHS Rosemoor) or our London office. However, as the role does involve regular travel to all RHS sites particular consideration will be given to candidates from London and the North West.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is a national charity with a mission to inspire everyone to grow, as plants are vital to our wellbeing, the environment and the happiness of us all. We are undergoing an exciting period of development across the organisation and in our team, as now more than ever our work with community volunteers, schools and groups couldn’t be more important in delivering our mission. This role is to work in our Communities’ Team, to develop and deliver a range of wellbeing projects in the heart of communities across the UK.

Through our work the RHS encourages first time growers, to seasoned professionals. We celebrate, involve and support people in the power of plants and gardening through all that we do, including through RHS gardens and shows, our publications and online advice, and through our work in schools and the community. Over 200 years of history has helped us lead the way in gardening science, to innovate and find solutions that keep people and plants thriving and in build the skills to safeguard the future of our industry.

This is an exciting new role within the Communities team and we are looking for an experienced project manager who shares our passion for the role of gardens for wellbeing. You will lead the development of our plan and deliver new projects that deliver wellbeing benefits for communities and schools.

A key project will be to work with the wider RHS team and partners, to deliver a range of new gardening projects for wellbeing, in healthcare settings. The right candidate will have excellent communication and team working skills, as well as proven experience of developing multi stakeholder partnerships across a number of projects. You will understand the vital importance of having people’s needs at their heart, to ensure that we create access for the widest range of people.

The role will draw learnings from the programmes that we develop, to ensure best practice is replicated and widely shared.

The RHS provides a number of great benefits for employees including:

  • Free access to all RHS Gardens, Shows and Libraries
  • Employee discounts including airport parking, hotels, retail and gym membership
  • 25 days holiday (increasing 28 and 30 with service) and option to buy/sell
  • Monthly Garden Magazine and access to Horticultural advice
  • Sponsorship for External Studies
  • Complimentary access passes to RHS gardens for friends and family

The RHS is committed to being an inclusive employer and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds.

Apply via our website by 5pm Monday 5th July 2021.
