Tall Ships Youth Trust

Chief Executive

Competitive Salary

Based in Portsmouth (working from home considered)

We are the world’s oldest and largest charity dedicated to the education and personal development of young people through experiences at sea, with a focus on disadvantaged young people.  We do this through the crewing of ocean-going yachts.

The impact of one of these voyages on a young person can be really life changing.  The voyages take young people, from mixed backgrounds and with different abilities, on world-class sailing group expeditions, developing life potential, skills and awareness of the world. Adventure, excitement and challenge are guaranteed.

Sailing with us can be one of the most significant moments in the lives of young voyagers, helping them to focus on the future, giving them direction and purpose, and opening their minds to previously unthought of opportunities.

The organisation is seeking a Chief Executive who can build on the legacy of the past 60 years, so that we can both significantly increase the number of disadvantaged young people that we can help and also secure our financial future.

The successful candidate will be expected to increase the Trust’s fundraising capacity by building relationships with key individuals or institutions.  The role will appeal to a charismatic leader who relishes change and will be able to develop new ideas and thinking in our quest to support disadvantaged young people.  The new Chief Executive will bring inspirational leadership to increase awareness, reach and measurable impact of the Trust through better leverage of social networks, innovation, creative partnerships and greater financial stability.

Sailing experience is not necessary.

This is a superb opportunity to lead a reputable and forward-thinking Trust and to create lasting change in the lives of young people.
