Job Details

Fixed term

The Royal Academy of Engineering is harnessing the power of engineering to build a sustainable society and an inclusive economy that works for everyone.

In collaboration with our Fellows and partners, we’re growing talent and developing skills for the future, driving innovation and building global partnerships, and influencing policy and engaging the public. Together we’re working to tackle the greatest challenges of our age.

Supporting the development of a growing global community of engineering and technology entrepreneurs, you will bring together research entrepreneurs from Latin America, Africa and all across Asia to help them commercialise innovations that will benefit society and the planet. This will involve driving the flagship Leaders in Innovation Fellowship (LIF) alumni community programme delivery across 16 emerging countries, currently supported by the Newton Fund, and supporting over 1,100 alumni in their entrepreneurial journeys.

In particular, you will develop a high-profile digital platform for the alumni community management to replace the current bespoke platform, produce insightful data and collateral about network members’ successes, and deliver a suite quality events in London and around the world, whilst fostering beneficial relationships with potential partners and investors.

Your impact on the future of engineering innovation will be considerable, and you will assist in deploying a million pound budget- so we need an exceptional professional. With the people skills to build relationships with stakeholders from research, industry and government across the globe, you will bring significant experience of supporting innovation or engaging with emerging economies.

Naturally, you should be adept at managing networks, leading projects and interpreting technical material, and you will share our deep passion for engineering, technology and entrepreneurship.

A high-tech background would be very useful, as would exposure to international development and online communities – but it’s your relationship management and commitment to delivery, supported by meticulous attention to detail that will matter most.

In return, we offer an unrivalled package of benefits including a non-contributory pension scheme, BUPA cash plan, private medical insurance, subsidised restaurant, regular social activities, health and wellbeing programmes as well as significant investment into your personal and professional development. You will be based at our airy, stylish offices in a prestigious location, opposite St James's Park.

We have adapted our working practices in response to Covid-19, and all staff are currently working remotely. We support flexible working and would be happy to discuss working patterns with candidates.

Closing date: Midday on 23 June 2021.

Virtual interview dates: w/c 28 June 2021.
