The Health Foundation is an independent charity committed to bringing about better health and health care for people in the UK.  Q is an ambitious initiative connecting thousands of people working to make health and care better across the UK and Ireland. Q offers a vibrant networking and development programme, a participatory grant funding programme and ground-breaking improvement Labs.  Q is part of respected charity the Health Foundation, working in partnership with organisations across the UK and Ireland.  You can find out more in the links below or on Q’s website.

The Q Strategy and Development Lead plays a pivotal part in shaping and delivering the strategy for the Q Initiative.

This post will lead the development of our cross-cutting strategy for Q’s long-term sustainability.  We have big ambitions: with an indicative 10 years backing and £50m+ funding from our partners, we now need to chart a path to a new funding mix and increased organisational independence.

Critical to success will be working collaboratively with the Q Director, new Board, and Leadership Team and grounding future plans in our mission and ways of working as a team.

Not just about bold strategy, this post also holds delivery accountability for Q’s innovative grant funding programme (Q Exchange) and for leading delivery of our newest offer – bringing together improvement leaders across the UK and Ireland - from concept to scale.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior leader to join a widely respected and dynamic team.  Naturally collaborative, you’ll bring flexible strategy skills and business development experience, with a focus on working creatively with others.

Please note that we are currently working remotely and will be moving to a hybrid working offer as COVID-19 restrictions ease.  This role is being offered as a full-time role but flexible working requests will be considered.

To find out more about the role and what we are looking for, please click on the link below where you will be redirected to our careers page where you can download a full job description and further details on how to apply.

You can also arrange for a short informal conversation with the Q Director in advance via Purnima on Purnima.Anhal@health.org.uk

Application deadline: Sunday 20 June, 23:59

There will be a two-stage interview process:

  • First round interviews scheduled to take place remotely on 1 and 2 July 2021
  • Preferred candidates will be invited back for a remote second round interview on 8 and 9 July 2021

THE HEALTH FOUNDATION

About Us

Health is our most precious asset. Good health and wellbeing enables us to live happy, fulfilling lives and frees us up to achieve our potential. It fuels our prosperity – a healthy and productive labour force is the engine that powers our economy. And it helps to build a stronger society by enabling us to play a full part in family life, make social connections and contribute to our communities.

Our health is shaped by a range of factors including our early life, the work we do and the income we earn, the education we receive and the homes and places we live in. The health and care system should support good health and wellbeing by enabling everyone to access the high-quality treatment, care and support they need, when they need it.

Yet, good health remains out of reach for too many people in the UK. Improvements in life expectancy have slowed. We compare poorly with other leading nations on some important aspects of our health, such as cancer and heart disease. Deep inequalities in health between our poorest and wealthiest communities have widened. Meanwhile, health and care services are under huge pressure and struggling to provide access to timely, high-quality care.

It doesn’t have to be like this. By valuing our health as an asset, investing in health and care services and focusing on the wider factors that shape our health and drive inequalities, we can build a healthier nation.
