Who are we? The Marine Society & Sea Cadets is a vibrant and growing national charity delivering life changing nautical adventure and fun to young people through the Sea Cadets.  We aim to give young people nationwide the best possible head start in life by building life skills to help provide a brighter future. Additionally, our Marine Society College and Library make personal and professional development opportunities available to Seafarers.  This is an exciting time for the charity and we need top talent like you to come aboard and help us realise our goals and maximise our impact on our beneficiaries.

What we’re looking for: You will be studying for a CCAB qualified accountant, preferably with finance experience in a charity of comparable size. You will need the enthusiasm, vision, professionalism, expertise and experience to control and be responsible for many aspects of the charity’s finances, and to provide high quality financial advice and support to the charity’s staff and business. You will work closely with the Financial Controller. 

Key Areas will focus on:

-        Maintain, manage and control the charity’s accounting books and records.

-        Manage the charity’s accounting receipts and payments and other transactions, perform control checks and reconciliations as appropriate and in accordance with best accounting practice.

-        Manage and lead the staff of the Finance department.

Scale: The charity has net assets of £31M, annual income and expenditure of some £18M and employs around 200 staff in 20 locations across the United Kingdom, with its headquarters in London. We also have approximately 9,000 Sea Cadet volunteers.  We have an offshore fleet of five vessels, including the charity’s square rigged flagship based in Gosport, Hampshire.
