About Us

 

Established in 1991, Turning Tides is a community-led charity dedicated to ending homelessness. At Turning Tides, we empower homeless or insecurely housed individuals to achieve sustainable independent living.

 

We have gone from supporting a handful of people in the coastal town of Worthing to providing a range of services to over 1,700 people in Worthing, Adur, Littlehampton, Horsham and Mid Sussex. We have over 5,000 supporters, 250 volunteers and 150 staff members to date.

 

We are currently looking for an Individual Giving Fundraiser to join our team. This is a full-time role, however we will consider part-time hours for the right candidate.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with experience of working in the fundraising sector to use their existing skills and knowledge to help our community-led charity continue to deliver vital services.

 

You will be joining our passionate team, dedicated to making a positive difference to the lives of our service users. Your role will ensure that we can continue to deliver and ensure those who need it the most are supported.

 

The Role

 

As an Individual Giving Fundraiser, you will help maximise fundraising income by raising awareness of our work and the issues faced by homeless or insecurely housed people in the community.

 

Reporting to the Fundraising Manager, you will raise awareness of our activities and build and nurture relationships with existing donors and future supporters. You will increase supporter engagement and develop individual giving and major donor giving.

 

Additionally, you will:

 

- Develop and manage a long term strategy for raising money from individuals

- Help develop a strategy to increase new donors and existing income across all individual giving streams

- Develop relationships with donors, supporters and possible supporters

- Help promote individual and legacy giving through campaigns and communication initiatives

 

About You

 

To join us as an Individual Giving Fundraiser, you will need:

 

- Experience in Donorfy or working with databases, database management and undertaking analysis to prepare reports and documents

- Experience building external networks and relationships

- Good numeracy and computer literacy skills and able to make effective use of systems

- To be able to manage a portfolio of projects effectively and change priorities in a busy environment

- To be organised, flexible and proactive in your approach to work to deliver targets and deadlines

- To be able to work flexible hours on occasion

 

Knowledge of fundraising methods and practices, rules and regulations would be desirable. Knowledge of housing and homelessness issues and issues that face the sector would also be advantageous.

 

Experience of working as an individual giving, major donor, legacy fundraiser and/or in a fundraising and/or communications environment would be beneficial to your application.

 

A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle would be equally favourable.

 

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours a week, however, part-time hours will be considered for the right candidate.
