Non-Executive Director

Gloucestershire

£3,500 per annum

Are you inspired by the opportunity to make a positive difference to homes and communities? If so, their Non-Executive Director role may be an exciting and rewarding opportunity.

Our client believes that everyone should have access to a warm, safe affordable home when they need it. As the principal provider of low-cost housing in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, and the surrounding counties, they are on a mission to create great homes and support the communities in which they work. Founded on strong ethical principles and passionate about their place shaping role, they focus on four key areas (Their Customers, Their Homes, Their People and Their Corporate Health) to help them achieve this.

Long-term, sustainable growth is firmly on their agenda. They are working hard to deliver on their promise to build 1,000 new homes by 2028, alongside finding innovative ways to ensure we deliver a first-class service for their customers and are able to meet the government’s Carbon Zero agenda.

They are looking to strengthen the skills on their Board in one or more of the following areas of expertise:

  • Local knowledge of the communities they serve and insight into the impact of their services.
  • Knowledge of the Carbon Zero agenda and retrofitting of homes
  • Development, construction, and commercial experience.
  • Financial and treasury management
  • Performance and risk management

They recognise that, alongside appropriate skills, experience, and values, diversity is a key component of effective Boards. Bringing together people with diverse experiences, perspectives, and opinions encourages a healthy debate and stronger decision making.

Previous experience as a non-executive director is not required but you must be able to contribute effectively to decision making by bringing challenge, support, and strategic thinking to the organisation. You must also be able to role model their values as these are core to their business.

You will need to be able to commit to attend five Board meetings per year at their office in Newent, plus development and training sessions, although some of these may be held virtually.
