Marine Society and Sea Cadets (MSSC) is the nation’s largest maritime charity and the governing charity of the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC), a civilian voluntary youth organisation comprising some 400 or so volunteer Sea Cadet Units, throughout the UK. The SCC offers a wide range of youth opportunities with the same enduring objective – to foster good citizenship in the community.

This role forms part of a joint project between the Sea Cadets and The Seafarers Charity.

We are currently seeking to appoint a Regional STEM Coordinator Marine Engineering Pathway (MEP) to continue to deliver Marine Engineering workshops in schools across the South West of England in order to raise awareness and interest in Marine Engineering as a potential career choice. You will also be involved in the ongoing development of the Marine Engineering Programme as part of this exciting project.

You will also play a key part in making Marine Engineering training more accessible to cadets and helping them understand how the skills they develop are aligned to RN and Maritime Careers.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in STEM and education and the passion to inspire young people, particularly those who are currently under represented in the maritime sector. You will also have some teaching or training experience, and the ability to implement new and innovative training projects as part of the organisation’s strategic objectives in what is a challenging and exciting role.

Applications should consist of CV and Supporting Statement/Cover Letter, without both we will sadly be unable to consider your application.

Company

We at MSSC are passionate about providing a brighter future to young people nationwide and to seafarers, wherever they may be.

MSSC’s vision of being the leading maritime charity for youth development and lifelong learning aligns these two great charities under a common cause – to support all of our beneficiaries so they can achieve their best potential, whatever path they choose.

For the Sea Cadets, this means: inspiring and supporting the next generations through nautical adventure so they can realise their potential and grab a better future.

For the Marine Society, this means: Enabling seafarers with the right tools to get to where they want to be through learning and self development.
