From rolling hills to bustling market towns and the world-famous Seven Sisters white cliffs, the South Downs National Park’s landscapes cover 1,600km2 of beautiful and breath-taking views, rare and diverse habitats and quintessentially English scenery.
Established by the South Downs National Park Authority, the South Downs National Park Trust takes a park-wide approach to protect this extraordinary place for future generations. The Trust works in partnership with national and community based organisations for the benefit of the National Park and the people who live, work and visit here.
As Grants Officer, you will be working for the SDNPA, in partnership with the South Downs National Park Trust, to manage and develop their increasing range of grant programmes. A key focus for this role is to develop and evaluate bids from partner organisations in their application for grant funding. Our priorities currently include Trees for the Downs, Beelines, a new fund aimed at helping nature recover as we seek to “build back greener,” and our ongoing Sustainable Communities fund.
This is a unique opportunity to play a part in the UK’s work responding to Climate Change and biodiversity crisis, within one of our most precious landscapes. If you are interested in the natural environment, have an understanding of the ethos of a national park, high level administrative and communication skills and are able to engage with a variety of different people and groups then we look forward to hearing from you.
Sound like something that interests you? Think you can really add value to the role? Meet the person specification? Then please apply!

Company
The South Downs National Park officially came into being on 31 March 2010. However, the idea of a National Park in the South Downs can be traced all the way back to 1929. In 2016 the National Park was granted International Dark Sky Reserve status, making it one of the best places in the country to view the night sky. Today, we are one of only 16 such Reserves in the world.
