Job Details

I have an enormously exciting opportunity for a part time (21 hours) Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion to join a national sexual health charity on a two-year fixed term contract. The aim of this Director of EDI job is to help provide exceptional EDI leadership, support and expertise to create better representation and inclusion of all people including people of colour, women, people who identify as trans and people living with a disability within the organisation. This new and influential position will lead on all EDI matters, to ensure that a more inclusive culture can be embraced. The post holder will report into the CEO and work closely with the Director of People and Corporate Services.

The principles of equity and diversity are core to the strategy that the charity is setting itself to achieve by 2025. They have already created an internal EDI group and are working with an external consultancy, but now need a Director of EDI to create and roll out a long-term strategy which will allow the charity to be an exemplar within the sector.

This is the opportune time to join the organisation as they embark on their new journey implementing positive cultural change. The successful candidate will shape and deliver the strategy that will drive improvement in EDI across the organisation and influence the people around them.

The main purpose of this role is to lead on changes that will have a significant and lasting impact on the evolution of an inclusive culture. This unique opportunity will allow an EDI expert to use their knowledge and experience to:

  • Lead, develop and implement a new and clear EDI strategy
  • Work with staff to identify changes, challenge racism and discrimination, promote best practice and improve understanding across the charity.
  • Building networks with partners who also champion inclusivity, particularly for people of colour, women, people who are trans and non-binary and people living with disabilities.
  • Use existing organisational data as a basis to develop meaningful EDI metrics that can be used to plot and measure the organisation's progress in this area.

This two-year FTC role paying £65,000 pro rata, will allow someone to work either from one of the charity's offices, remotely, or in a blended way, with some travel to the organisation's Head Office in London likely. The organisation promotes agile working and the 21 hours can be carried out over three or five days depending on the needs of the Director of EDI.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of developing EDI strategies and processes to transform organisations. Be a result driven applicant with a proven EDI track record and be able to lead and embed cultural changes. This newly created job will enable the Director to build strong, long lasting relationships with staff across the charity. It would also be advantageous to have experience of working for a charity previously.

As an equal opportunity employer, the charity particularly welcomes applications from women of colour, people living with a disability, transgender, or non-binary individuals and value the positive impact and difference that they can bring to the organisation.
