Hands Together Ludlow is an expanding charity addressing disadvantage in the local community. This new post provides an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in shaping and developing our work, which is rooted in the local community and provides an increasing range of direct services to those in need, as well as coordinating and supporting a range of partners. We are a flexible, imaginative and responsive charity which, in the four years since we were established, has achieved a high profile in the local community. This is an opportunity for an experienced, innovative and ambitious manager to take the charity to the next stage of growth.

  • Day to day management responsibility for operations and performance.
  • Manage and motivate the staff team, providing regular supervision and appraisal.
  • Manage and mitigate business risks and ensure compliance with the charity’s policies.
  • Ensure resources, including staff and volunteers, are deployed effectively.
  • Ensure the charity fulfils legal requirements including Health & Safety and Safeguarding.
  • Generate income and secure resources, including making funding applications.
  • Initiate and manage change in accordance with strategic priorities.
  • Identify gaps in knowledge, skills and understanding, and initiate training.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation systems.
  • Manage and review costs and expenditure.
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with strategic partners.
  • Manage the marketing and promotion of the charity.
  • Work with community representatives to promote the aims and objectives of the charity.
  • Publicise services to local people.

Hands Together Ludlow (HTL) is a young charity serving the market town of Ludlow, Shropshire, and its environs. We address key, local issues of isolation and loneliness, poor health and wellbeing, poor quality of life and we also enable access to services and activities for disadvantaged and vulnerable people.

We are a community led charity with a small staff group and an extensive network of volunteers who come from a variety of backgrounds and bring a wide range of skills and experience which are channelled to tasks where they can contribute most - from delivery drivers to befrienders, to lead volunteers bringing specific skills.

We support our communities through:

  • The provision, largely through community volunteers, of direct services, resources and activities to individuals and families in need.
  • Working alongside local agencies such as the council to help develop and implement local plans.
  • Working in partnership with a range of organisations, including Community Connectors, Churches Together Around Ludlow (CTAL), Ludlow Food Bank, Ludlow Town Council and Shropshire Council. Operationally, many of our activities depend on joint working (for example befriending and surplus food collection).
  • Supporting other organisations through sharing of good practice and providing a framework for developing new initiatives.
