1. Key Working Relationships

2. Job Purpose

  • To be a member of the Senior Management Team
  • To support Listening Ear’s BACP accreditation and renewals process
  • To provide clinical oversight of volunteer counsellors working in both children’s and adult services
  • To provide clinical oversight of Listening Ear’s out-of-hours clinics (5pm to 8pm Monday to Thursday) and Saturdays 9.30am to 4pm
  • To manage appropriate safeguarding and clinical issues for trainees, cascading concerns as necessary
  • To undertake the full recruitment process for volunteer counsellors at Listening Ear (including new placement counsellors and prospective students applying for Listening Ear’s own courses)
  • To support the organisation of external, group, clinical supervision for volunteer counsellors
  • To provide case-management meetings for volunteer counsellors
  • To coordinate opportunities for peer-learning and CPD for students
  • To develop new training products for Listening Ear
  • To support the delivery of Listening Ear’s own training, marking student’s work where necessary
  • To provide time-limited counselling sessions, with a small weekly caseload
  • To understand, accept and work in-line with the principle of confidentiality
  • To provide support to and work closely with the Clinical Services Manager
  • To advise the Senior Management Team on professional/ clinical issues and developments in counselling, psychotherapy and mental health
  • To provide cover for Listening Ear’s Head of Clinical Services during periods of sickness or holiday absence

3. Overview of Responsibilities

  • Maintaining an Accessible Service
  • Act as a Listening Ear Ambassador at all times
  • Ensure that volunteers deliver appointments as planned by Central Services and provide all services in-line with all LE policies and procedures, including equality, diversity and accessibility policies
  • Ensure volunteers accurately complete all records, in accordance with the DPA/ GDPR.
  • Liaise effectively with clients staff/volunteers and other referring bodies

4. Quality Assurance

  • To engage with the organisational system for reporting and learning from critical incidents.
  • To actively participate in regular clinical and line management supervision
  • To work with the SMT to ensure high standards are achieved and deficiencies addressed

5. Service Development

  • To keep up-to-date with changes in practice and undertake training/ education identified in supervision and/or professional and personal development plan
  • To work with colleagues to develop services in partnership with relevant agencies
