Community Manager
London, EC1 (currently home based due to COVID-19)

About Us

We’re The Mix, a charity that provides free, confidential support for young people aged under 25. We believe all young people should be able to make informed choices about their physical and mental wellbeing so that they can live the lives they choose.

Life is tough, we know that. But support doesn’t have to be. That’s why we’re here to take on the embarrassing problems, weird questions and please-don’t-make-me-say-it-out-loud thoughts that people under 25 have.

We’re now looking for a Community Manager to support young people through the development and delivery of online communities and interactive services.

The Benefits

- Salary of £30,000 - £37,000 per annum (depending on experience)
- 35 days’ holiday per annum (including Bank Holidays)
- Stakeholder pension scheme
- Flexible and remote working available
- Eyecare vouchers
- Life assurance
- Weekly staff socials, plus Summer and Christmas Party
- Colleague of the month – awarded half a day extra annual leave
- Central London location
- Clinical supervision offered for front line services staff
- Coaching environment
- Learning, development and training options

This is the ideal role for a youth-working professional with experience of managing volunteers and delivering workshops to advance your career with our leading youth-focused organisation.

In this engaging role, you will have the chance to make an impact on people’s lives within a friendly and supportive environment where you can grow and develop professionally.

What’s more, we’ll support you to undertake further training to enable your continuing development and will provide superb rewards to ensure your engagement.

The Role

As the Community Manager, you will be responsible for developing a range of online communities and interactive services for young people. You will develop and manage projects that encourage participation and involvement of young people.

Leading on the growth and development of the community, you will use youth led practice and new technology as well as playing a key role in the management of our funding portfolio.

Specifically, you will:

- Use data and insights to provide analysis on youth-related topics and discussions
- Implement appropriate safeguards and risk management processes
- Oversee the recruitment, training, management and support of volunteers
- Liaise on cross-charity projects
- Establish relationships with partner organisations and stakeholders

About You

To be considered as the Community Manager, you will need:

- Previous experience of the management and training of volunteers
- Experience of delivering online workshops with young people
- Demonstrable knowledge of running online peer support and community services
- Good general technical knowledge
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good planning and problem-solving skills
- A qualification and/or relevant experience in youth work, up to Level 2

A good understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and safe working practice would be beneficial to your application, as would an understanding of legal issues affecting digital communities and work with young people. Knowledge of HTML and other coding languages would also be advantageous.

We are dedicated to equal opportunities and equality within our organisation. As part of your application, we will ask you to complete an equality and diversity form. This is voluntary and will not affect your application, however, it will support our diversity policy and make our organisation stronger and more representative of our diverse society.

Other organisations may call this role Youth Community Manager, Senior Youth Worker, Youth Work Manager, Youth Services Manager, Online Community Manager, Volunteer Manager, or Volunteer Recruitment Manager.
