Blue Cross are one of the UK’s leading rehoming organisations for animals. We support sick, injured, and homeless pets and care for more than 40,000 animals every year through our rehoming, veterinary and education programmes.
 
What is the role?
 
Reporting to the Finance Business Partner the Financial Planning and Analysis Accountant role offers the successful candidate an opportunity to be exposed to the various activities of the charity including rehoming, clinical, fundraising and education. Accordingly, the role will play a pivotal part in helping the charity to achieve its 3 years strategic initiatives and generally supporting in shaping the charities future financial stability.
 
Activities will include analysis of data related to current performance, to identify potential risks and opportunities, and to support in data led decision making. As such, the ideal candidate will enjoy dealing with data and the analysis of data sets to produce insightful reports for a non-finance audience and to populate KPI suites, which they will help to define and formulate. This is also likely to focus on the analysis of current procurement activity and to support on cost saving initiatives within the area of procurement.
 
Alongside the Finance Business Partner, the role holder will design, build and implement appropriate business financial models. This will include the development of models for multi-year business modelling and will additionally support with the financial modelling of the charity’s strategic initiatives. Furthermore, the role will support budget holders in understanding and delivering their budgets in a financially sustainable manner.

What is required?
 
We are looking for people with the following:
- Degree level of education or equivalent through relevant training/experience
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- A strong track record of budgeting, financial and business modelling, forecasting, planning, analysis and monitoring performance.
- Proven experience of presenting financial and management accounts, KPIs, reports and business analysis data.
- Highly proficient in the use of Excel, databases, MS Office and finance systems applications, use of data warehousing and reporting tools.
- Business awareness and commercial acumen.
- Demonstrated commitment to change and continuous improvement.
- Ability to communicate successfully, in writing and orally, with non-finance specialists across the organisation and with people at all levels
- Strong influencing and networking skills, with proven ability to work with others to achieve results
- Ability to develop innovative ways to improve income generation and support services
 
It would also be great if you had:
 
- Charities SORP accounting
- VAT and Partial Exemption
- Experience of working with SSRS and SSMS designing and reporting using SQL
- Knowledge of Access Dimensions and Focal Point systems
- Experience of Access Dimensions accounting software
