Job Details

Campbell Tickell are pleased to be helping with the recruitment of a Chief Executive at Howard League.

For more than 150 years, the Howard League has been at the forefront of penal reform. Everything we do is aimed at reducing the harms associated with both crime and punishment, and with building a safer and fairer society for all. To drive our work forward, we are seeking an outstanding leader.

Our new CE will be inheriting an extraordinary legacy, and will also be visionary in enhancing our influence and impact on policy, practice and public debate, as we continue to navigate the complexity of change and challenge across the criminal justice sector.

Combining intellectual curiosity and a senior track record in a relevant role or roles, our CE will lead the organisation, ensuring that our culture and practices reflect our values: We continually balance being influential and engaged, while also being fearlessly independent and radical. If that combination excites you, apply for this exceptional leadership opportunity.

Company

The Howard League for Penal Reform is a national charity (registered charity No. 251926) working for less crime, safer communities and fewer people in prison.

We work with parliament and the media, with criminal justice professionals, students and members of the public, influencing debate and forcing through meaningful change to create safer communities.

We work on a wide range of issues. Recent programmes have focused on transforming prisons, reducing child arrests, promoting real work in custody, and ending the criminalisation of children in residential care.

We use our legal work to transform and shape the law for children and young people.

The Howard League for Penal Reform is entirely independent of government and is funded by voluntary donations and membership subscriptions.
