‘My Home Life England’ (www.myhomelife.org.uk) is a national initiative promoting quality of life in care homes. It is based at City, University of London.

We are looking to recruit a Senior Development Officer who can work on two strands of activity: The first will support our work on connecting younger people with care homes for older people across 11 local areas of England as part of a project funded by The Dunhill Medical Trust and The National Lottery Community Fund for approximately 3 days per week. The second will have a broader focus on coordinating the delivery of consultancy services across England that deliver improved leadership and enhanced quality of life in care homes for the remaining two days per week.

The post holder will build relationships with local project leads (community brokers), in 11 areas of England, helping them to reflect on how best to connect care homes with their local community and how to actively involve older people, staff and families within their projects. The work may involve facilitation of local workshops and creation of resources that support the project. Other duties will involve liaising with care homes, local authority commissioners in supporting our broader consultancy work.

 

Person Specification

We are looking for someone with a Degree in either health & social care practice/ policy or equivalent related experience and extensive knowledge of care home practice, with excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills. A team player, who works well under pressure and is driven by a desire to make a difference to the lives of older people in care homes. The post will involve occasional work outside of core hours and travel across England.
