Financial Accountant, Central London – Charity, up to £55,000

A well respected charitable organisation is looking for a new Financial Accountant to build out their finance function. Suitable candidates will have an ACA/ACCA qualification with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience and will have strong technical accounting knowledge. This role sits as part of a large finance function, reporting directly into the Head of Financial Reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key role in preparing the statutory accounts of the organisation and its subsidiaries, including schedules and analytical reviews
  • Preparation of the Finance Record to meet reporting timeframe and provision of required analysis
  • Responsible for the opening balances, ensuring agreement with the statutory accounts and facilitating timely upload\transfer into the new accounting year
  • Operational oversight of the accuracy and completeness of data in the nominal ledgers of the organisation; reconciliation of all managing period end cut-off and period end closure
  • Responsible for the year end processes on the Finance system including the roll forward of open purchase orders to the new financial year
  • Authorising BACS payment runs of suppliers and salaries
  • Dealing with internal and external auditors, and assisting in the implementation of audit recommendations
  • Ad hoc project work improving systems, processes and controls

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA accountant with min 2 years PQE
  • Can be straight from practice or come from an industry background
  • Not for Profit experience, particularly charities, would be a bonus but not essential
  • Highly computer literate with advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and computerised accounts systems
  • Proactive, solution focussed individual
  • Ready to drive for improvements and change within the systems and processes and willing to question current procedures
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
