About the charity

Our client is a registered disability charity based in Mid Sussex providing a range of fun, inclusive social and leisure activities in the local community all year round for children and young adults with learning disabilities and additional needs. They enable them to have a social life with their peers and give them opportunities to enjoy a wide range of activities, supported by experienced staff and volunteers.

Established in 1994, the charity has developed its diverse range of activities over the years, through consultation with members and their families. They offer their members opportunities to have fun with their peers, learn new skills and enjoy different experiences away from their families. They give them the opportunity to participate in activities that anyone of their own age group enjoys and takes for granted, providing them with the support and structure that they require, as well as allowing their parents, carers and siblings valuable time of their own.

The role

The charity is seeking an innovative and motivated Chief Operating Officer to support them on delivering their ambitious strategy. Reporting into the Board of Trustees, the COO will ensure that the values of the charity are upheld and act as an ambassador, championing the needs of members through networking, partnership development and fundraising. As COO you will have overall responsibility for the management and administration of the charity, and work with the Treasurer to draft the financial budgets.

The role would either suit an individual looking to step back from a larger charity looking to share their wealth of knowledge, or for an individual with experience in a senior management role within a charity looking for their next challenge.

Who they are looking for

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a track-record of inspiring operational and strategic leadership who has the ability to build meaningful and influential relationships with key stakeholders. To be successful in this role you will need previous senior management experience in a charity setting with experience of working with and accounting to Trustees. You will also have sound knowledge of legislation and regulations that apply to charities.

This role requires financial, operational and strategic input, so they are seeking someone with high levels of financial acumen, business planning, budget setting and operational resource management. Previous successful line management is essential.

Closing date: 11.59pm Sunday 9th May 2021
Interviews: Mid-late May 2021
