This is a new role to lead on the development of this new service which will support families to prepare their child(ren) for parental death from any terminal/incurable illness. Please head to our website for a fuller description of what we are looking for and the skills needed. The key responsibilities will be:
- To recruit a team of Pre-bereavement Guidance Assistant and Pre-bereavement Guidance Practitioners who will provide a range of support to parents, through telephone, email, and video platforms,
- Working with colleagues, experts in the field, and those with lived experience, map and review current resources available for signposting. Going on to lead the creation of a range of pre-bereavement information, support resources and tools for children and families,
- Provide line management of the team,
- Ensure that staff working in the Family Support Service are well supported and have access to regular clinical supervision,
- Develop and implement an induction, training programme and programme of ongoing development for the team,
- Establish policies, procedures, and processes for the service,
- Lead on establishing the technology infrastructure and requirements for the service, with expert IT input,
- Establish and lead on the monitoring of service outcomes, quality, and performance, ensuring there is a framework for feedback and service evaluation,
- Ensure all service activities are delivered in line with regulations (e.g., General Data Protection Regulation), good practice guidelines and organisational policies,
- Monitor day-to-day income and expenditure relating to the service,
- Working with Head of MarComms and Digital develop a publicity plan for the service,
- Lead on ideas for the future development of the service, supporting and leading on the services evolution,
- Build and maintain relationships with organisations and agencies providing pre-bereavement and bereavement family support,
- Build and maintain a directory of relevant services for family support and referrals,
- Raise awareness of pre-bereavement needs for families where a child is facing parental bereavement and forge links with appropriate agencies and other support organisations,
- Represent the Ruth Strauss Foundation at conferences, workshops, and meetings,
- Participate and support media and PR work as required,
