Our client prides themselves on being a great place to work, where everyone feels fairly treated and enjoys their work in a welcoming and friendly environment. They are a not-for-profit housing association that has been providing affordable housing in Luton and South Bedfordshire since 1962.
As part of the Homes England funding and rough sleeping initiative via LBC they are receiving some funding towards the refurbishment of one of their properties which will be used as next steps accommodation. The tenants moving into them must have previously been Street Homeless or Rough Sleeping and already in their Accommodation. This exciting new project will be on a fixed term contract for three years.
The role will include supporting tenants needs and supporting them on their tenancy rights including priority housing rights, and advice for secure tenancies.
You will need to have a working knowledge of housing legislation and the local and national policy context, to liaise with professionals and proactively seek information. You will also need to have worked with vulnerable adults in the homeless sector and have knowledge of lone working practices.
You will be responsible for supporting tenants in housing applications, talking to applicants about their housing options and services that may assist them with finding suitable, alternative accommodation.
If you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you can build effective working relationships with key stakeholders quickly. You must be able to work on your own initiative and manage a high case load.
The purpose of the role is to create a pathway to move people through their HMO accommodation and into independent accommodation. The tenants that move into their Next Steps will be able to stay there for 4 years.
The Support Worker (internally known as HMO Resettlement Coordinator) is required to give those tenants 3 hours support each per week and will also need to work with existing HMO tenants when they are within 6 months of their moving out date to support their move on pathway.
You must have a full clean UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle for work purposes. Please note, this role will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
So, if you welcome the challenge, have experience of working with vulnerable adults and like to work in a collaborative and authentic way that gets results, they would love to hear from you.
